9/12/2024 - 11th Grade British Literature and Composition
This essay is our first analytical essay on a piece of literature. When writing about literature, we must understand the literary piece, understand the topic, and be able to show proof of our thesis statement and topic sentences. This is what we will work on next week. This first essay will take some time; however, the more we write, the more we will be able to write a literary analysis with ease. Soooooooo.....
Students will write the body paragraphs of one of the essays discussed in class. We will write the introduction and conclusion later. Each body paragraph should be on a separate sheet of paper. This does NOT have to be typed. Actually, handwritten will probably be best, but not mandatory, so we can add information easily. Make certain that the TOPIC SENTENCE for each body paragraph is clear. Also, make certain that the THESIS STATEMENT is written at the top of the first page because the thesis statement controls the paper, and if there is no thesis statement, there is not control.
On Tuesday, we will continue working on the body paragraphs by adding lines from the respective poem (if they are not already there). You do not need to worry about MLA format since this will probably be handwritten. Even if it's typed, don't worry about MLA.
Enjoy this opportunity of learning, and I look forward to seeing you in paradise on Tuesday.
