High School ELA and Brit Lit: 10-4-22
Read chapters 23-24 in Unbroken and answer the following reflection questions.
Chapter 23: Compare and contrast Watanabe's mental state and actions with someone who might be considered a common schoolyard bully.
Chapter 24: We all know that stealing is wrong. However, what the Japanese were doing to the Prisoners of War (POWs) was also wrong. We have been taught that “two wrongs don’t make a right.” How do we justify doing something wrong, like stealing food, to help others like in Louie’s situation?
Also, remember we won't have a vocab test this week since the word list didn't make it home last week when we were dismissed early, but next week's test will be on Wednesday (10/12) instead of Thursday (10/13) since the 13th is a fall break holiday.
Last note: It is up to the students to come to me to set up a time to retake any tests or catch up on missing work. The last day for this grading period is October 12th. All test retakes must be done by or before the 12th. Thanks!
The information for the Pride and Prejudice Compare/Contrast Essay assignment was sent home today. That paper is due next Wednesday, October 12th. Please follow directions--and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
