High School ELA and Brit Lit: Weekend Work

Grades 9/10:

-New vocabulary words for next week went home today. Study for next Thursday's test.

-Catch up with your reading through chapter 57 in The Count of Monte Cristo.

-Complete your 'Giving Instructions' outline we worked on in class today. Use the example on the last page in the packet of papers I gave you yesterday as your format guideline. Remember, you are NOT writing a paragraph for this part of the assignment.

Brit Lit:

-If you were absent today, please be prepared to take the quiz on Tuesday. It covers events through chapter 13 in Ivanhoe.

-Your assignment for this weekend is to write a 'reflection paper' with two parts. In the first part, summarize what has happened in Ivanhoe through chapter 13. In the second part of the paper, please give your thoughts and opinions on what you've read so far.

-Also, per Mrs. Christi's recommendation, I have begun marking attendance status for class each morning and checking on homework completion. Please be aware that too many unexcused absences may result in a failing grade for this nine weeks. I realize that there are legitimate excuses for missing class. However, just not wanting to come to an early class is NOT a reason to miss. We may need to get some parents involved to address excessive absences.
