5th Grade Language Arts

This Week 3/3 - 3/5 :

Tuesday - W25 Vocabulary and Started The Magicians Elephant Movie after they finished the book.

Wednesday - Finished the movie and discussed which was better the book or the movie.

Thursday - Begin Ch8 L71 pages 139 - 140

Friday/Monday Work :

• Ch8 L72 Pages 141-142

• Study W26 Vocabulary * Test on 3/10

  • Present Tense Verb - tells about something happening now or continuing to occur

  • Past Tense Verb - tells about what has already happened 

  • Future Tense Verb - tells of a time in the future. Often used with the helping verb will.

  • Prefix - a word part added to the beginning of a word

  • Suffix - a word part added to the end of a word

  • Declarative Sentence - makes a statement that gives information and ends with a period.

  • Interrogative Sentence - asks a question and ends with a question mark

  • Exclamatory Sentence - shows strong feeling and ends with an exclamation mark 

  • Imperative Sentence - gives a command or makes a request usually ends with a period

  • Conjunction - a joining word

I have created a Kahoot account with the vocabulary to help them study we will do these in class if we have time but they are more than welcome to use at home. My username is hallieaweeks.
