--Read Chapters 3-4 of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.

--Write vocabulary words and definitions. Chapter 3 Vocabulary 1. Embittered – Made angry or resentful due to unfair treatment. 2. Conspiratorially – Acting in a secretive way, as if planning something sneaky. 3. Recoil – To quickly draw back, often from shock or fear. 4. Devious – Sneaky or dishonest. 5. Raucous – Loud and disruptive. Chapter 4 Vocabulary 1. Reprimand – A harsh scolding or correction. 2. Languidly – In a slow or relaxed way, often due to tiredness. 3. Adamant – Stubborn or unwilling to change one’s mind. 4. Guttural – A deep, harsh-sounding voice or sound. 5. Revoked – Taken back or canceled.
