Finish reading Act I.

In Act I, fear begins to affect the way people speak and behave. Choose one character and explain how fear appears to influence that character's words or actions. Use at least one specific moment from the play as evidence.

This should be about 1/2 page- 1 full page in length.

Monday

Finish Act I if you haven't already.

If you've already finished Act I, then reread/skim over it in order to effectively complete your assignment.

Choose ONE character from Act I and answer:

  1. What does this character want?

  2. What is this character afraid of?

  3. What does this character do to protect himself/herself?

  4. What does the character say or do that reveals his/her motives?

  5. Based on Act I, do you trust this character? Why or why not?

Turn those answers into ONE short paragraph:

Choose one character from Act I and argue whether that character is primarily motivated by fear, reputation, power, revenge, or self-preservation. Use at least TWO specific pieces of evidence from Act I to support your claim.

Suggested length: ½–1 page.
